Poem

A poem is a literary creation. It is a single piece of poetry; complete in itself.

Poetry

Poetry is a piece of writing in which words are arranged beautifully and rhythmically.

Kinds of Poems

1. Acrostic/Name/Word
2. Cinquain (1-2-3-1 synonym word)
3. Shape/pattern
4. Couplets (rhyming 2 lines)
5. Diamonte (1-2-3-4-3-2-1 opposite word)
6. Limericks (aabba)
7. Haiku (5-7-5 syllables)
8. Tanka (5-7-5-7-7 syllables)

How to Write Diamonte Poem

• 1 word for the topic
• 2 adjectives to describe the topic
• 3 verbs to describe the topic
• 4 words: 2 things related to the topic; 2 things moving away from  the topic
• 3 verbs describe the new, different topic
• 2 adjectives to describe the new topic
• 1 word, opposite of the topic
